The Select Equity Strategy invests primarily in domestic stocks. The portfolio may also hold foreign stocks, usually through American Depository Receipts (ADRs). Typically, the portfolio holds 35 – 45 stocks that range in terms of market capitalization and style orientation (i.e. value versus growth).
Stock selection is based on our approach of identifying economic, geo-political, and social trends that can be translated into investment themes. This top-down, macro-economic perspective helps us to identify drivers of sustainable growth and uncover opportunities for capitalizing on market inefficiencies.
We conduct rigorous fundamental security analysis on potential holdings, which may include financial statement analysis, peer comparative analysis, valuation modeling, and management assessment. This portfolio’s risk management approach helps provide protection in down markets.
The Select Equity Strategy uniquely allows for a degree of customization based on a client’s particular financial circumstances or investment objectives. Along with this flexibility, the strategy provides equity exposure with the potential for capital appreciation and risk management.
International investing presents certain risks not associated with investing solely in the US, such as currency fluctuation, political and economic change, social unrest, changes in government regulations, differences in accounting and the lesser degree of accurate public information available. Micro-, small-, and mid-cap investing involves greater risk not associated with investing in more established companies, such as greater price volatility, business risk, less liquidity and increased competitive threat.
There is no guarantee that this or any investment strategy will succeed; the strategy is not an indicator of future performance; and investment results may vary.
