International Equity

Investment Philosophy

Our international equity portfolios are based on award-winning research conducted over the past 18 years. This research has been tested in numerous market environments. Major tenets of this research include:

  • Country allocation drives excess returns in international/global equity portfolios
  • Alpha can be captured through a disciplined quantitative approach to country allocation and enhanced portfolio construction
  • Quantitative methodologies exploit market segmentation and human emotions which can create valuation anomalies and macro-economic inefficiencies in global equity markets
  • Risk controls are applied to the portfolio to ensure proper diversification; the quantitative approach reduces investor bias

Above all, we focus on top-down country allocation. Empirical research suggests that country allocation can have a significant impact on performance. Our international equity portfolios are based on multi-factor quantitative analysis that determines how to apply country exposure. Our portfolios provide broad exposure to a country's entire market, and may be constructed using local ordinary shares, or Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) and baskets of American Depository Receipts (ADRs), depending on the strategy.
